Looking for culture through economy, through capitalisation, through Milton Keynes: a film by Sapphire Goss

by Liz McFall, Fabian Muniesa, Darren Umney, Sapphire Goss, Dave Moats October 27, 2017

To mark the JCE’s 10th anniversary we commissioned a film about Milton Keynes that delves back into the history of Journal of Cultural Economy and its links to the work of Stuart Hall. We chose to set it in Milton Keynes because that’s where the Journal started, because what’s not to love about a place that was definitely NOT named after Milton Friedman and John Maynard Keynes – and because, to be quite frank, we needed somewhere to hide from 2017 and all its brutalities. The film is accompanied by a commentary On brutal culture by Darren Umney, Taylor C. Nelms, Dave O’Brien, Fabian Muniesa, Liz Moor, Liz McFall, Melinda Cooper and Peter Campbell that appear in Issue 6 of Volume 10.

We hope you enjoy watching Sapphire’s truly beautiful film as much as we enjoyed making it.
