Erin B Taylor

Erin B. Taylor is an economic anthropologist who researches consumer finance, material culture and technology. She is co-founder of Canela Consulting, a research company that specialises in understanding “messy human problems” in finance and technology. Previously Erin has carried out research worked on money, mobile phones and mobile people in Haiti, as well as material culture and poverty in the Dominican Republic. Her book, Materializing Poverty: How the Poor Transform Their Lives (2013, AltaMira), examines how poverty intersects with materiality in a squatter settlement in Santo Domingo. Additionally, Erin is co-lead of the EWPN Research Network and an Honorary Affiliate at the University of Sydney.
