Horacio Ortiz

Horacio Ortiz is senior researcher at IRISSO, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France and associate professor at School of Social Development and Public Policy, Fudan University, China. He obtained a PhD in social anthropology from the Ecole de hautes études en sciences sociales, France, in 2008. His research focuses on the financial industry from a perspective that combines attention to everday procedures of valuation and investment, personal trajectories of professionals, organizational dynamics among companies and global distributive effects. He conducted fieldwork in New York, Paris and Shanghai. His current research interest is on the relation between money, digitalization and finance. He is also interested in the connections between philosophy and social science. He is the author of The Everyday Practice of Valuation and Investment.
