Liz McFall is Personal Chair in the Sociology of Markets and Director of Data Civics Observatory at Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh. Her research interests cross the social studies of insurance, cultural economy and market studies. She is currently working on a book about the role of Big Sheds in the digital economy and is author/editor of Devising Consumption: cultural economies of insurance, credit and spending (2014), Markets and the Arts of Attachment (2017), Advertising: a cultural economy (2004) and publishes in journals including British Journal of Sociology, Economy and Society and Big Data and Society.
